Hip Hop is rhythmic dancing to hip hop music. It uses the most up to date movements of hip-hop culture. It is a style of dance that originated in the streets of New York and Los Angeles and has been made popular by music videos.
K-pop dance refers to the choreography associated with K-pop (Korean pop) music, a genre that blends various musical styles, including pop, hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music. It combines elements of hip-hop and jazz, with routines specifically choreographed to enhance the catchy melodies and repetitive lyrics of the songs. K-pop dances are known for their highly synchronized group performances and dynamic movements. Engaging in K-pop dance provides a physical workout and helps develop mental resilience. Learning intricate routines improves memory, concentration, and coordination, making it both a fun and beneficial activity.
Acrobatics teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline & concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique. Students will learn such things as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance, & contortion tricks. Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, flexibility, & strength.
Jazz dance is a highly energetic and dynamic way of moving. It includes a variety of styles including Broadway, street jazz, Latin jazz and funk. It can be controlled and slow or sharp and explosive. Jazz dance is very expressive and highly entertaining.
Contemporary dance is an expressive and adaptable style that fuses elements from various dance forms, including ballet, jazz, modern, and hip-hop. Emerging in the mid-20th century as a response to the limitations of classical ballet, it emphasizes natural movement, individual expression, and storytelling through emotion. This genre encourages dancers to explore creativity through a blend of techniques and improvisation, reflecting current themes and personal experiences. Characterized by fluid movements, sharp transitions, and floor work, contemporary dance can be performed solo or in groups and is commonly showcased in theatrical productions, dance companies, and competitions.
Based on the technique used in ballet and jazz, this form of dance has become very popular. Lyrical dance often uses the words of a song as the intent of the dance. It is usually slow and sustained movements with long lines and emotional content.
